Die Classic Player Serie von Fender gibt es schon seit einigen Jahren, erfreut sich aber nach wie vor größter Beliebtheit. Und das ist auch nicht weiter verwunderlich, schließlich hatten die Designer aus dem Custom-Shop bei der Konzeption der Serien-Modelle quasi „Narrenfreiheit“ und konnten, angelehnt an klassische Fender-Instrumente, ihren Ideen freien Lauf lassen.

Hätte man vor fünf Jahren behauptet, dass es eine anständige Voll- oder Halbresonanzgitarre für so wenig Geld geben würde ? man hätte es nicht für möglich gehalten. The 61 South comes in two pickup configurations. The first, featuring two of our own custom-wound, tapped tele-style pickups, allows the player to dial in a total of four tonal variations. Pulling up the volume or tone knob allows you to cut or ‘tap’ approximately 25% of the pickup signal. At the bridge, muscular and punchy becomes clean and clear. At the neck, deep rich blues become 60’s surf. The 3-way switch gives you the ability to isolate the neck or bridge pick-up; and the option to utilize both. The second pickup configuration features a tapped tele-style pick-up on the bridge with P-90s at the neck. This produces a brighter sound with more biting treble response for screaming guitar work. Each version of the 61 South comes in three colors: white blonde, honey blonde and tobacco sunburst.
